THE COMMITTEE TO ELECT JOE NYSTROM

Joe Nystrom has been teaching since 2002. He has taught high school mathematics in 4 school districts and at three colleges. He holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, a master's degree in Math Education and is halfway through a doctorate.

After a decade in the Worcester Public Schools, Joe was offered a full time professorship at Worcester State University when he heard about the possibility of moving to Cape Cod to continue as a high school teacher. It was a difficult decision at the time, but he loves sailing and the beach, so Cape Cod was the right choice. He is glad to be here. Joe taught at Barnstable High for six years and now teaches physics and mathematics at Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis, MA.

Joe was featured on the front page of the NEW YORK TIMES for helping more low-income students, English language learners, students of color and women pass the AP Statistics exam than any other teacher in the state, and one of the top in the country. See that article here.

Joe also has quite a following on YOUTUBE. You can see his enthusiasm for education HERE and HERE.
